Strike stalls Bennett’s trial

HARARE – The trial of MDC treasurer-general and deputy Agriculture minister-designate, Senator Roy Bennett was on Monday foiled by the on-going strike by civil servants. The trial failed to take off at the High Court, although all lawyers from the State and defense were present.

Thousands attend 'Real Change' rallies

HARARE – Thousands of MDC supporters last weekend attended rallies across the country that were addressed by several senior MDC officials. Dubbed the “Real Change” rallies, the gatherings were meant to brief the people on the performance of the inclusive government, which celebrates its first birthday this week, the health of the party and the ongoing Constitution- making process.

- SADC mediation team jets in

- MDC wants elections if facilitation fails last

HARARE - The Southern African Development Community (Sadc) facilitation team appointed by South Africa's President Jacob Zuma to assist in negotiations between parties to the Global Political Agreement arrived in Zimbabwe yesterday and met negotiators from the three parties. The Changing Times heard MDC negotiators and others from Zanu PF and the Arthur Mutambara-led formation held 2-hour long discussions with the visiting team of facilitators, comprising South African ministers Charles Nqakula and Mac Maharaj, and President Zuma's international relations advisor Lindiwe Zulu. The negotiators then met on their own after the meeting with the facilitation team, to forge ahead with Global Political Agreement (GPA) talks.

The MDC condemns in the strongest terms the manner in which the law enforcement authorities handled the issue of the two Batswana rangers who were arrested on 19 January 2010 allegedly for unlawful possession of weapons and unlawful entry into Zimbabwe , and only released on 8 February 2010 after payment for violating immigration laws.
